(Lesson 4822) (04-15-25) 1st Corinthians 15:24-30
“Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?”
In today’s quote, Paul outlined the sequence of events leading to the culmination of Christ's redemptive mission. He explains that after Christ's return, those who belong to Him will be resurrected. Following this resurrection, Christ will reign until He has subdued all opposing powers and authorities. Only after this period of dominion will He deliver the kingdom to God the Father, signifying the final defeat of all enemies, including death. This passage emphasizes that Christ's ultimate authority over the earth is fully realized after His return, during His reign, and culminates in the final submission of all things to God.
NOTE: This lesson is a great one for those who believe that God is in control of all things today. Paul clearly established that Jesus will take control upon His return and then turn that control over to God the Father. ~
