Lesson 4465

 (Lesson 4465)(04-24-24) John 1:6-13

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Today’s quote introduces John the Baptist and describes the reception of Jesus by the world and His own people. It begins by stating that John the Baptist was sent by God as a witness to testify about the Light (Jesus), so that all might believe through him. John himself was not the Light, but he came to bear witness to the Light, which gives light to every man and was coming into the world. The quote describes how the true Light (Jesus) was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not accept Him. He came unto His own (the Jewish people), but His own did not receive Him. However, to those who did receive Him and believed in His name, He gave the power to become the children of God. These children were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. This sets the stage for the transformational impact of faith in Jesus and the spiritual rebirth it entails.~
