Lesson 4980

 (Lesson 4980) (09-19-25) James 5:7-11

“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”

Today’s lesson encourages believers to be patient and steadfast as they wait for the Lord’s coming. James compares this patience to a farmer who waits patiently for the harvest. He warns against grumbling against one another, because God, the ultimate Judge, is standing at the door. The prophets are given as examples of those who endured suffering with patience. James also highlights Job, whose perseverance through trials showed the compassion and mercy of the Lord in the end. In short, this passage teaches believers to endure troubled times with patience, avoid complaining, and look to the examples of faithful servants of God, knowing that the Lord is merciful and full of compassion to all who have faith in Him. ~
