(Lesson 4974) (09-13-25) James 2:11-13
“For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.”
Today’s quote reminds us that the same God who commanded against adultery also commanded against murder, so breaking one law makes a person guilty of breaking the entire law. Believers are called to speak and act as those who will be judged by the law of Jesus Christ. The quote concludes by warning that making judgments without mercy will result in no mercy being shown when we face God’s judgment. In short, this lesson teaches that selective obedience is sin, and that today’s churches must demonstrate, and preach, consistent faith. ~
