Lesson 4664

 (Lesson 4664)(11-10-24) Acts 15:30-34

“So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle: Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation. And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them. And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles. Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.”

In today’s quote, Paul, Barnabas, Judas (Barsabas), and Silas delivered the letter from the apostles and elders in Jerusalem to the Gentile believers in Antioch. When the diciples in Antioch read it, they were encouraged and overjoyed by its message, which clarified that Gentiles were not required to follow the full Mosaic Law. Judas and Silas, who were prophets, also encouraged and strengthened the believers with additional words. After some time, Judas returned to Jerusalem, while Silas chose to remain in Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, continuing to support the church. This passage emphasized the joy and unity brought by the church’s decision. It is important to note that some of the requirements of the old laws remained in force with the Gentiles. ~
