(Lesson 4551)(07-19-24) John 13:28-29
“Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.”
Today’s quote relates that, when Jesus singled out Judas as His betrayer, the other disciples did not understand why Jesus told him to act quickly. They didn’t realize that Jesus had just set in motion the actions that would lead to His death, burial and resurrection. Some thought Jesus was just instructing Judas to go and buy what was needed for the Passover feast or to give something to the poor, understanding that Judas was the keeper of the money bag. ~
