(Lesson 4543)(07-11-24) John 12:34-36
“The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.”
Today’s quote tells us that the crowd responded to Jesus by questioning how He could say that the Son of Man must be "lifted up," since they believed the Messiah would remain forever. Jesus told them that the light was going to be with them for only a little while longer and urged them to believe and to walk with Him while they have the light with them so that darkness would not blind them. He encouraged them to believe in Him as the light so that they can become His children. After saying this, Jesus departed and hid Himself from them. ~
