Lesson 3152

 (Lesson 3152)(08-18-20) Matthew 10:5-6

    “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

    It is very important to remember that when Jesus sent our His twelve apostles, as is related in today’s quote, He explicitly commanded them to teach ONLY the Jews. Ther were to go only to “the lost sheep of Israel”. The reason was that, at that time, Jesus and His apostles were still bound by the rules of the old Law. The apostles could not teach Christianity until AFTER Jesus had completed His divine mission and had ascended back to heaven. They were to preach that “the kingdom of God is at hand”, thus preparing the Jews for the coming of the new law of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.~
