(Lesson 3136)(08-02-2020) Matthew 7:15-20
“ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”
Today’s quote warns us to be careful of people who show all the superficial, outward signs of Godliness, but subtly warp the meaning and intent of God’s word to fit their own purpose. It warns of those ‘Sunday only’ Christians who are always first to quote scripture about anything, and who are last to actaully practice the full intent of that scripture.
Satan is alive and well, he was loosed on the earth to deceive as many as will follow him until Jesus returns to claim His own. Satan has all the tools he needs and he uses them with the skill and expedience of a true expert. He sends his silver tongued angels to, ever so slightly, distort the doctrine of Jesus Christ by implying that complete faith in the virgin born life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ is not the only prerequisite to eternal salvation.
The path to the “strait gate” should be the ultimate aim of every serious bible student. Taking it upon themselves to dig out the true intent of God’s word, “rightly dividing the word of truth” and avoiding those who are in business with Satan and are out to deceive.
“By their fruits ye shall know them."~
