(Lesson 3137)(08-03-2020) Matthew 7:21-23
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Today’s quote corresponds to the warning that Jesus gave in yesterday’s lesson; Wherein, He made it clear that those, no matter how religious and well meaning they appear, who choose to practice and preach extraneous things that lay outside His explicit instructions, will be cast out in the final judgment, as surely as those who openly reject Him.
The ONLY righteousness necessary to enter into God’s kingdom and receive eternal salvation is the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ that is automatically imputed into those who put their faith in Him. Righteousness CANNOT be achieved by any work of mankind, encluding submission to water baptism, or any other physical action.~
