Lesson 2418

(Lesson 2418)(07-29-18) Mark 2:21-22
“ No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.”

This lesson established that the old laws to which all Jews, throughout their history, had been subjected, did not apply to the apostles of Christ since those laws would be fulfilled and essentially done away by the new law of  grace upon the completion of Jesus’ divine mission to die for the sins of the world; Therefore, Jesus made the point that the rules of the old law could not be applied to those who were now made subject to the new law of grace through faith of which He was the initiator.
Jesus’ reference to an “old garment” and “old bottles” was a reference to the old law that did not apply to His apostles. ~
