(Lesson 2322)(04-20-18) Matthew 11:28-30
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Today’s lesson comes from the last three verses of yesterday’s quote. Therein, Jesus explains, in very clear terms, just how easy it is to become a child of God and to receive the heavenly gift of eternal life.
Almost all of today’s (so-called) Christian denominations contend that in order to become wholly righteous before God and and qualifying to receive eternal salvation, a lost soul must jump through all manner of hoops, such as being ceremonially emmersed in water (baptized), and/or obeying all the laws of the Old testament. Some go even further demanding that in order to get into heaven a lost soul must live entirely above sin. How totally erroneous and sad for those who have fallen for those contentions. Just as Jesus said in today’s lesson, “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”. In order to receive God’s grace and the absolutely free gift of eternal life, all that is required of ANY lost soul is to believe in the virgin born life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ. There are no strings attached.~
