Lesson 2311

(Lesson 2311)(04-09-18) Matthew 10:7-8
“And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”

Today’s quote clearly relates that the apostles were to preach that “the kingdom of heaven is at hand”. That is the exact message that both John the Baptist and Jesus were sent to preach. “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, and saying, repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:1-2) “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthes 4:17) It was also made evident, through yesterdays quote, that the message they all preached was meant to be preached to the Jews ONLY. The reason they preached explicitly to the Jews is because that message was acceptable within the old Hebrew Law and and also because the new law of salvation by grace, through faith, could not be preached until Jesus completed His divine mission as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world, and had ascended to heaven.
Jesus would eventually ordain Saul of Tarsus, who would later be called “Paul”, to preach His gospel to the Gentiles.~
