(Lesson 2113)(09-18-17) Philippians 3:15-21
“Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”
In today’s quote, Paul encouraged those children of God at Philipi who were yet weak in the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ, to seek that knowledge from teachers such as himself, who were first hand observers of the validity of that gospel. He also warned them again that there were those (Mostly Jews) who would use a pretence of the gospel of Christ to line their own pockets, or to fill their own sinful bellies.
It behooves us all to beware that there area many so-called Christians who, yet today, use the precious word of God as a selfish means to fill their own pockets, and thereby to fulfill their own lusts, sacrificing the eternal souls of those they wrongly influence as nothing more than collateral damage.
It is our duty, as children of God, to call them out and identify them to an unsuspecting world.~
