Lesson 2848

(Lesson 2848)(10-13-19) 1 Corinthians 1:10-11
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.”

Today’s quote relates the principal reason Paul wrote this letter to the Corinthians. He had heard that there were “divisions” and “contentions” among the membership. The members were arguing over what should, or should not, be taught as the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As will soon become apparent, in the next lessons, the primary “division” and “contention” was over baptism and what that word implies within the gospel. It is very important to remember the intent of this writing as we continue these lessons.~
