Lesson 4804

 (Lesson 4804) (03-31-25) 1st Corinthians 11:1-3

“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

In today’s quote, Paul encouraged the Corinthians to follow him as he followed Christ, highlighting the importance of following the examples that both Jesus and he had set. He praised them for remembering his teachings and holding firmly to the traditions he had passed on. Paul then introduced the concept of a divine order: Christ is the head of every man, man is the head of woman, and God is the head of Christ. This structure emphasizes the principle of authority and submission within both the spiritual and relational contexts, reflecting God's design for harmony and order among believers.

I know this lesson don’t set well with some today’s women, by it is what Paul taught. ~

Lesson 4803

 (Lesson 4803) (03-30-25) 1st Corinthians 10:24-33

“Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.”

In today’s quote, Paul instructed believers to seek good for others, not just for themselves. He permitted eating meat sold in the market without raising questions of conscience, since "the earth is the Lord’s." If invited to a meal, they could eat what was offered, unless the food had been offered to idols—in that case, they should refrain for the sake of the other person’s conscience. Paul emphasized that Christian liberty should not cause offense or become a stumbling block to those who do not believe. He concluded by urging believers to do everything—whether eating, drinking, or anything else—for the glory of God and to avoid causing offense to anyone, including the church. His goal was to please others in a godly way so that unbelievers might be saved. ~

Lesson 4802

 (Lesson 4802) (03-29-25) 1st Corinthians 10:20-23

“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.”

In today’s quote, Paul urged believers not to have fellowship with demons, emphasizing that they cannot partake of both the Lord’s table and the table of demons without provoking the Lord to jealousy. Paul reminded them that while all things may be lawful, not all things are helpful or edifying. His message encouraged believers to use their freedom responsibly, avoiding anything that could harm others spiritually or dishonor God. ~

Lesson 4801

 (Lesson 4801) (03-28-25) 1st Corinthians 10:13-19

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?”

In today’s quote, Paul assured believers that no temptation had overtaken them except what is common to man, and that God is faithful—He will not allow them to be tempted beyond what they can bear and will always provide a way of escape. Paul then urged them to flee from idolatry and speak to them as wise people, asking them to judge his words carefully. He emphasized that idols are nothing, but participating in idol feasts aligns one with false worship, which believers must avoid. ~

Lesson 4800

 (Lesson 4800) (03-27-25) 1st Corinthians 10:5-12

“But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall."

In today’s lesson, Paul explained that although the Israelites experienced God’s guidance and provision, most of them fell in the wilderness because God was not pleased with them. He warned that their failures—such as idolatry, sexual immorality, testing God, and complaining—served as examples and warnings for believers. Paul emphasized that these things were recorded to instruct those living in the last days. He concluded with a caution: anyone who thinks they are standing tall and living out the perfect Christian life should take heed lest they fall, reminding believers to remain humble, obedient, and ever watchful. ~
