Lesson 4480

 (Lesson 4480)(05-09-24) John 3:22-24

After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. For John was not yet cast into prison.”

Today’s quote describes a period following Jesus' interaction with Nicodemus, where Jesus and His disciples go into the land of Judea. There, He stays with them and baptizes. (Actually, Jesus baptized no one in water as per John 4:2.) John the Baptist was performing water baptisms in Aenon near to Salim, because there was lots of water there, and people continued to come to him. This lesson also clarifies that these events happened before John the Baptist was imprisoned, indicating the simultaneous ministries of John and Jesus during that time.~
