Lesson 4502

 (Lesson 4502)(05-31-24) John 6:28-29

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

Today’s quote is one of the most important texts that can be found in the entire bible. Therein, Jesus, straight from His own mouth, laid out the answer to how eternal salvation can be attained. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou SHALT be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31)

Now to Him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that WORKETH NOT, but believeth on Him that JUSTIFIETH THE UNGODLY, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Romans 4:4-5)~

Lesson 4501

 (Lesson 4501)(05-30-24) John 6:25-27

And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.”

In today’s quote, Jesus addressed the crowd's superficial motivation for seeking Him, which is based on physical satisfaction rather than spiritual understanding. He then encouraged them to seek the eternal nourishment that He offers. This lesson highlights the importance of pursuing spiritual sustenance over temporary physical needs.

Sadly, much of today’s “Christian” message is more centered around securing physical gain and political advantage, rather than around genuine devotion to the content and intent of God’s word.~

Lesson 4500

 Lesson 4500)(05-29-24) John 6:22-24

The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone; (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:) When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.”

Today’s quote relates that the crowd that had been fed by Jesus the previous day noticed His absence and began to search for Him. Their search eventually led them to Capernaum where they hoped to find Him. This passage sets the stage for the subsequent teaching about the Bread of Life, highlighting the people's eagerness to follow Jesus.~

Lesson 4499

 (Lesson 4499)(05-28-24) John 6:16-21

And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea, And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.”

Today’s quote demonstrates Jesus' authority over nature and His ability to bring peace and reassurance to His followers in times of fear and trouble. When the disciples were afraid due to the storm and the sight of Jesus walking on water, His words, "It is I; be not afraid," comforted them. That event teaches about trusting in Jesus' presence and power, even during difficult and frightening circumstances. When the disciples accepted Jesus into the boat, they safely and quickly reached their destination. This lesson symbolizes that inviting Jesus into our lives brings not only the salvation of our eternal souls, it also brings peace and solace as we endure the chaos of our daily lives.~

Lesson 4498

 (Lesson 4498)(05-27-24) John 6:1-15

After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.”

In today’s quote, in summary, Jesus performed the miracle of feeding five thousand people with five barley loaves and two small fish, demonstrating His divine power. The crowd was amazed and identified Him as the expected Prophet, but Jesus retreated to avoid their plans to make Him king.~
