(Lesson 3776)(05-21-22) 2nd Corinthians 7:13-17
“And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.”
Today’s quote is a stunning one. Therein, Paul verifies that a man or woman who is a child of God by faith in Jesus, through their faith, may save the souls of their unbelieving spouse.
The stunning part is that Paul says that one person can be saved by the faith of another. Another stunning part is that in all my years, I have never heard this preached. Most of today’s “Christians” would frown on a marriage wherein one person is an infidel.
This text shows that a marriage between a believer and an unbeliever would definitely be a benefit of the unbeliever.~
