(Lesson 3767)(05-12-22) 2nd Corinthians 3:17-21
“For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church. Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?”
Today’s quote tells us that Paul sent Timothy to reorganize the church at Corinth, to correct their mistakes, and to bring them back to the pure gospel of Jesus Christ that he had preached to them while he was there.
We see, in the last part of today’s quote, that Paul considered himself at odds with much of the membership at Corinth because they were following after men instead of Jesus. Therefore, he asked, “What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?”
I wish someone like Paul would appear today with the “rod” that he mentioned. I beleive it would do a world of good if our churches could be shaken to their core and put back on the path that Jesus intended them to take.~
