 (Lesson 3758)(05-03-22) 1st Corinthians 1:17-18

    “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

    After years of study, to me, Paul’s statement in today’s quote totally destroys the notion that a lost soul must be “baptized” (immersed) in water to attain ever lasting life.

    Paul said, “For Christ sent me NOT TO BAPTIZE, but to preach the gospel” If water baptism were meant to be a step toward spiritual rebirth and eternal salvation, Paul would have NEVER made such a statement. He would have been thrilled to baptize as many souls as he could find.

    Those who preach the, 'salvation by water baptism heresy’ are preaching the “wisdom of words making “the cross of Christ of “none effect”.~
