(Lesson 3511)(08-14-21) John 3:14-15
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
Today’s quote references Moses having raised up a snake on a pole so that the Jews, who were in the middle of a plague of serpents, could come, and in faith, simply look upon the snake and be saved for the deadly effects of it’s poisonous venom.
Jesus came and was lifted up to be crucified so that anyone can come to Him in faith and be saved from a certain eternal damnation that has already been determined because of the sin they bear.
Just as looking upon the snake, in faith, saved the Jews of Moses day from it’s bite, those of us whom have put our faith in Jesus crucified, have been spiritually reborn and eternally saved from all sin. Our sins have been replaced with the righteousness of Jesus Himself as we appear before God, the Father.
When a lost soul believes in Jesus, that soul is no longer charged with sin, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his (God’s) seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” (1 John 3:9)~
