“ The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.”
Today’s quote is a confirmation of my commentary yesterday. Therein, John clearly states that it is Jesus who remits sin, NOT water baptism. The last sentence of the quote verfies that John was sent to prepare the Jews for the coming of the Savior. A part of that praparation was to administer ritual water baptisms per the requirements of the Law of Moses that was given to the Jews ONLY. ~
