Lesson 5003

 (Lesson 5003) (10-12-25) 1st John 2:18-20 

   “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.” 

 

   In today’s quote, John warned that many antichrists were already active during his time as an apostle of Jesus Christ, showing that, even then, the last days had already begun. Those early antichrists were once thought to be a part of the church but had left to chase after their own lusts, proving they were never truly believers. John reminds the children of God that they have been anointed (baptized) by the Holy Spirit, giving them spiritual understanding and the ability to recognize truth from deception. Simply said: even in the apostles’ day, false teachers and antichrists were at work, but true believers could see through them because God’s Spirit reveals the truth. ~
