(Lesson 2624)(02-28-19) John 1:11-13
“ He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
Today’s quote tells us that Jesus was sent to His own, (The Jews) but as was prophesied, they rejected Him. That fact was prophesied by Isaiah many many years before Christ came: “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:3-5)
A glorious part of this quote is the part that gaurantees a total rebirth from sin and eternal salvation to those who merely believe in the name of Jesus Christ: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, EVEN TO THEM THAT BELIEVE ON HIS NAME”.
The last part of the quote refers to the welcoming of the Gentiles who after the Jews had rejected Jesus, would be included in God’s plan of eternal salvation for ALL mankind. The Gentiles are those who: “were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” ~
