Lesson 4935

 (Lesson 4935) (08-05-25) 2nd Timothy 2:10-14

“Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.”

In today’s quote, Paul said he had endured all things for the sake of the church, so they could obtain salvation through the amazing, saving grace of Jesus Christ. He recited a faithful saying: if believers died with Christ, they would also live with Him; if they suffered, they would reign with Him; if they denied Him, He would deny them; yet even if they were faithless, Jesus remains faithful. Paul instructed Timothy to remind others of these truths and to avoid striving about words that would only lead to ruin.
