(Lesson 4574)(08-12-24) John 18:39-40
“But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews? Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.”
In today’s quote, after questioning Jesus, Pilate told the Jewish leaders that he had found no fault in Him. Despite Pilate's declaration of Jesus' innocence, the crowd demanded the release of Barabbas, a known criminal, instead of Jesus. Pilate offered to release Jesus as part of the Passover custom, but the crowd insisted on freeing Barabbas, leaving Jesus to be crucified. ~
