Lesson 3478

 (Lesson 3478)(07-12-21) Luke 22:31-34

“And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.”

Today’s quote demonstrates that, even though Peter swore his loyalty to Jesus, even to death, Jesus knew Peter’s faith was weak and that Peter would very soon deny even knowing Him.

I wonder how many so called Christians today would stay by Jesus’ side knowing that they would probably be killed for their loyalty?

It’s important to remember that the whole of Catholicism is based on Peter’s devotion as the original head of the “church”, the man who Jesus called “Satan”. (Matthew 22:23) “Get thee behind me Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”

Could such a man be the head and cornerstone of the body of Jesus Christ?
