(Lesson 2663)(04-08-19) John 9:1-3
“And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.”
Today’s quote relates another very important lesson in that it clarifies a point of contention between many Christians.
It is commonly believed that God is always in total charge and causes everything that happens here on earth, whether it be good or bad. That belief is largely a false one. God is omnipotent, and most certainly has the power to cause or prevent any action that might be taken or committed on earth; However, He gave every human being his/her own free will to do as he/she pleases causing outcomes of events or actions that may or may not within God’s divine will. We must remember that God the Father gave certain control, such as the power over death, to Satan so as to prove or disprove the devotion of mankind. This fact is born out when Satan expressed his (God given) power by promising Jesus that he would “give” to Jesus everything He saw from the high mountain top if Jesus would deny God and worship him. Satan’s immense power over the earth is further demonstrated by the fact that Jesus will return to earth to defeat Satan and eternally take that power away from him.
The events concerning Jesus’ interaction with the blind man referenced in today’s quote is an example wherein God interfered with the natural progression of things by causing that man to be blind from birth so that Jesus could miraculously restore his sight in order to convince those Jews, and us, that Jesus is indeed the Son of God, the savior of all who will believe in Him. ~
