(Lesson 2192)(12-09-17) James 1:1-8
“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
It is very important to note that today’s quote, taken from a letter from James, which was clearly sent specifically to “the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad”. The noting is important because this lesson is yet another that was specifically addressed to Jewish Christians.
Herein, James instructs those Jewish Christians to rely wholly on their faith FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST for all their needs. He reminded them that if ANY doubt existed, their prayers would be blown away by the wind.
That same rule applies to today’s Christians. If we pray for our wants and needs, we should do so absolutely believing that if the answer we desire is within the will of God, our wants and needs will be given to us. If one indeed has faith that God answers the prayers of the righteous through Jesus Christ, that one should pray for what he/she wants ONCE, then forget about it. To pray for the same things over and over displays a lack of faith, God ALWAYS hears the prayers of the righteous through Jesus Christ, and WILL NOT forget you asked.~
