Lesson 2074

(Lesson 2074)(08-07-17)  Galatians 2:15-16
“We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

In today’s quote, Paul, at one time a devout Jew himself, made it very clear that the Jews had NO advantage toward eternal salvation by living in accordance with the Law. He again confirmed that salvation comes ONLY through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. He very clearly stated that the works of the Law accomplished nothing toward eternal salvation.
This is a very good lesson for the many today who contend that one must live a perfect life after some form of ritual water baptism, continually asking for forgiveness for every little misdeed, in order to be worthy of eternal life. Herein, Paul clearly establishes that eternal salvation can ONLY be achieved through faith in the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ. Once a soul has surrendered to the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ and taken that righteousness as his/her own, that soul is reborn as a child of God and CANNOT sin. “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he CANNOT SIN, because he is born of God.” (1 John 3:9)
