Lesson 2095

(Lesson 2095)(08-31-17)  Ephesians 4:9-16
“(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
The point of today’s lesson is that before the church could become a whole, properfully functioning body, its members were (and still are) required to abandon all their misbeliefs and false doctrines. Then, they were required to have their minds (spirits) fully renewed by learning of the perfection and eternal salvation through faith in the life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, therethrough becoming worthy as properly functioning parts of the body (Christ’s church).
For any lost soul to attain eternal salvation and become a member of the body of Christ, that one must recognize, and admit, that he/she is condemned by the sin of Adam and incapable of living the perfection required for reunition with God the Father. One must then confess their sin and accept, through faith, the blood of a perfect Jesus Christ as a sacrifice for the remittance of ALL sin. Once that is accomplished, that person is an eternal member of the body of Christ and therein sealed by the power of the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption.~

Lesson 2094

(Lesson 2094)(08-30-17)  Ephesians 4:1-8
“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”

In this lesson, while urging the Ephesians to “walk worthy” of their calling (Just as we should today), Paul said there is “one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
It should be clearly understood that the “one” baptism Paul acknowledged in today’s quote, is NOT a reference to a ritual water bath or immersion in water, as per traditional Hebrew law. But rather, that term “baptism”, as it is applied herein, refers to that baptism (immersion) into the body of Jesus Christ that is achieved by, and when, a lost loul places his/her faith in that same Jesus Christ with the full understanding that His life and perfection has been sacrificed for the sins of all who will only believe in Him.
There is indeed ONLY ONE baptism; “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” (Galatians 3:26-27)~

Lesson 2093

(Lesson 2093)(08-29-17)  Ephesians 3:13-21
“Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”

In today’s lesson, Paul complimented the Ephesians on their work and steadfastedness and encouraged them to keep up the faith.
He also encouraged that God be given the glory in all things, always.~

Lesson 2092

(Lesson 2092)(08-28-17)  Ephesians 3:1-12
“For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”

In today’s quote, Paul confirms that he is an apostle, duely appointed by Jesus Christ, as a preacher of God’s word to the Gentiles.~

Lesson 2091

(Lesson 2091)(08-27-17)  Ephesians 2:11-22
“Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”

Today’s quote, to me, is one of the most precious that can be found in the New Testament. Therein, Paul established that through Jesus Christ, the laws of the commandments and ordinances that were given to the Jews were “abolished”. Also, through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Gentiles were recognized as equals of the Jews as inheritors of the grace of God through His promise to Abraham.
There are so many today, claiming to be Christians, who contend that obedience to the Ten Commandments is prerequisite to eternal salvation. As this lesson so vividly demonstrates, nothing could be further from the truth. Herein, Paul stated clearly that the perfection of Jesus and His sacrifice abolished those rules. That means those commandments no longer exist, therefore we have no requirement to obey them. However, a true Christian will live according to the standards set out in those commandments out of our love for our Father God, His beloved Son, Jesus and our fellow man/woman.
As the latter part of the quote demonstrates, those of us whom have placed our faith in the Son of God, through faith, have become bonded together with Jesus as the children of God, forever.~

Lesson 2090

(Lesson 2090)(08-26-17)  Ephesians 2:1-10
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

In today’s quote, Paul again affirmed that the eternal salvation of those of us who have placed our faith in Jesus Christ comes from God as a gift, and cannot be determined by the physical works we might, or might not, do. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Since water baptism and all idolatrous rituals are definitely physical “works”, this scripture rules out any possibility that any of them have anything to do with, either achieving or maintaining, one’s eternal salvation.
Although absolute righteousness IS a requirement for eternal salvation, that righteousness can ONLY be achieved through FAITH in our Lord Jesus Christ; “To him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace but of debt, but to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him the JUSTIFIETH the ungodly, his FAITH is counted for RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Romans 4:4-5)~

Lesson 2089

(Lesson 2089)(08-25-17)  Ephesians 1:15-23
“Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.”

In today’s lesson, Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus that they would recognize, know and understand the awesome power of Jesus Christ as the risen Son of God and as the undisputed head of His church.
That same Jesus Christ is, still today, the head of the true church. We, the membership of that church, are “His body”, and should in every regard, reflect Jesus Christ in every thing we do.~

Lesson 2088

(Lesson 2088)(08-24-17)  Ephesians 1:1-14
“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”

In today’s quote Paul passed Godly greetings and salutations to the children of God at Ephesus. During his introduction, Paul was careful to give praise and glory to God for His redeeming grace toward us.
Paul reaffirmed that those of us who believe in Jesus Christ were meant to inherit the kingdom of God from the very beginning; “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”.
In the latter part of the quote, Paul also reaffirms that those of us who have believed in Jesus Christ are “sealed”, until the day of redemption. “ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise”.~

Lesson 2087

(Lesson 2087)(08-23-17)  Galatians 6:9-18
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.”

In the first part of today’s lesson Paul again encouraged the children of God to be good to one another, especially brothers and sisters in Christ. That is because it is not only the thing to do because God requires it, but also because at the “judgment seat of Christ”, we will all be judged according to those things we have done in the flesh to affect our position in the kingdom of heaven.
In the latter part of the quote, Paul, again, confirmed that whether or not a person is circumcised, or whether or not a person does or does not adhere to the requirements of the Law, has nothing to do with one’s eternity.
Sadly, today, we need not look any further than one of the “churches” just down the street to find the misguided enfluences of those false teachers Paul so faithfully kept warning us about.~

Lesson 2086

(Lesson 2086)(08-22-17)  Galatians 6:1-8
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

In today’s quote, Paul instructed the Galatians to be meek, always caring for one another with humility. He warned them to never be puffed up thinking themselves better than others. Paul also warned that whatever we do will be charged to us whether it be good or bad. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”~

Lesson 2085

(Lesson 2085)(08-20-17)  Galatians 5:15-26
“But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

In today’s lesson, Paul again assured the Galatians that they were no longer constrained by any law other than that law of goodness in spitit which comes from total surrender to the grace of God by faith in Jesus Christ.
In the latter part of today’s quote, Paul listed many of the evils that are committed by the flesh of mankind. He also warned that a true child of God will not participate in those evils.
I know from my own life experience that once a lost spirit gives over to the saving grace of God, that spirit is lifted above the basest instincts of mankind and will eventually bring the flesh above them also. It is incumbent upon every Christian soul to live his/her life so as to reflect the goodness of Jesus Christ that has been imputed into it. As Paul said, we are bound, not by any law, but by the love of God.~

Lesson 2084

(Lesson 2084)(08-19-17)  Galatians 5:15-20
“Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you. My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.”
In today’s lesson, Paul again demonstrated his displeasure with the Galatians, implying that if they continued to give themselves over to the pressure from the Jews, he would, by default become thier enemy.
In the last verse, Paul expressed that he wanted to come again the Galatia because he doubted the church was sincere in its devotion to Jesus Christ.
If Paul were alive today, there is no doubt in my mind that he would have the same doubts about the vast majority of our so-called Christian churches.~

Lesson 2083

(Lesson 2083)(08-18-17)  Galatians 5:1-14
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. I would  were even cut off which trouble you. For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

In this lesson, Paul once again warned the Galatians to avoid the entanglements of the old Hebrew Law. He told those Jews, who were adamant to hold on to the restrictions of the Law, that they would be wholly bound by it. Meaning, then just as it does today, that if a lost soul is reliant on one part of the Law to achieve eternal salvation, that soul must abandon any hope of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and obey every element of that Law.
Sadly, the vast majority of today’s socalled Christian churches insist that obedience to some of the commandments (The “thous shalt nots”) is required to achieve spiritual rebirth and eternal salvation. That misunderstanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ is leading thousands of people into hell every day. That is because, if one places a part of his/her faith in his/her own ability to live above sin, that one does NOT have absolute faith in the perfection of Jesus Christ for remission of ALL sin. That lost soul is, by default, maintaining faith in his/her own actions instead of leaving it all on the cross of Jesus Christ.~

(Lesson 2082)(08-17-17)  Galatians 4:21-31
“Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.”

In today’s quote Paul, still trying to convince the Jews to abandon the old Hebrew law as a requisite part of the doctrine of Jesus, uses the example of the two women who gave birth to Abraham’s sons namely,  Agar, Sarah’s hand maiden, and Sarah herself, to establish which lineage would legitimately inherit the promise of God. Isaac, by law, should have inherited Abraham’s birthright. However, because Jacob was Sarah’s son as God had promised, he became the heir to the birthright, just as God had predetermined.  Therefore, those who have accepted Christ, being free from the law, are born of the promise just as was Jacob.
In all, this lesson again established that Jesus is the promise of God to all who seek eternal salvation, through faith in Him as having the power to remit all sin. ~

(Lesson 2081)(08-14-17)  Galatians 4:12-20
“Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.

In today’s quote Paul, again, warned the Galatians of the influence that was being imposed by the infidel outsiders, and he especially warned them about the influence of the Jews as they kept trying to impose the rules of the old Law upon the Church. He even went so far as to express doubt as to the true devotion of the Galatians when he said, “for I stand in doubt of you”.
For those of us who seek the true and pure gospel of Jesus Christ, the lesson herein is to sift through all the extraneous nonsense that is forever being thrown at us, and abide by the simple doctrine that Paul so eloquently provided through his letters to the churches. We should ignore all the heretical pomp and ritual that is being practiced by so many of today’s religious congregations and remember that eternal salvation is by Grace, through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ ONLY. “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."~

Lesson 2080

(Lesson 2080)(08-13-17)  Galatians 4:8-11
“Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.”

In today’s lesson, Paul rebuked both Jews and Gentiles for reverting back to their old habits, the Jews for their attempting to return to the Law from which their oppresion had, and the Gentiles for returning to idol worship.
Most socalled churches today, in some way or another, have defiled the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as those Galatians did in Paul’s day. They have imposed needless rituals and have taken up setting certain days apart form other as, in some way, holier. Roman Catholcism and it’s subsidiaries have turned their socalled worship assemblies into scenes of nothing more than vulgar pomp and ritual.
The lesson that sincere Christians should take from today’s quote is that we should do everything in our power to always observe the Gospel of Jesus Christ pure in the form that Paul and Jesus Himself delivered to us. And, we should keep our fellowship in accordance with the simple rules that is laid out for us in the New Testament text.~

Lesson 2079

(Lesson 2079)(08-12-17)  Galatians 4:1-7
“Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

In today’s quote, Paul explained how, until the coming of Jesus Christ, the Gentiles were considered by the Jews to be inferior and unclean, and therefore subject to their law as it concerned eternity. But, once Christ came, being born of God by a woman, He delivered both Jews and Gentiles, who would believe in Him, so that they became, as Himself, the sons and daughters of God, and joint heirs of eternal life.
Once again, in this lesson Paul explained that neither being a Jew, nor abiding by their law, was an advantage toward gaining eternal life, nor was it a prerequisite to gaining eteral life. “For by Grace are ye saved, through faith, and that, not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)~

Lesson 2078

(Lesson 2078)(08-11-17)  Galatians 3:24-29
“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized (Immersed) into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Today’s quote again relates that if a lost soul is made a part of Jesus Christ through faith in Him, that soul has been reborn a child of God. Paul made it very clear that both Jews and Gentiles are made brothers of Jesus Christ, not by the way the live their lives, but by faith in the life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of that same Jesus Christ.~
NOTE: The term “baptized”, as it is applied in today’s quote, is NOT by any means a reference to traditional Jewish, ritual water cleansinf, or “baptism”.

Lesson 2077

(Lesson 2077)(08-10-17)  Galatians 3:15-23
“Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.”

In today’s quote, Paul made it clear that Jesus was the Promise that God made to Abraham when He covenanted to send a Redeemer. Jesus was never to be a part of the Law, nor was He to come as an affect of the Law. The Law came 430 years after God’s promise to Abraham.
With all the heretical doctrines that are around today, knowing this makes it easier to understand that the “good works” of the Law, as so many today contend, have NOTHING to do with the eternal salvation of those who believe in Jesus Christ.~
Tomorrows lesson will be a continuation of today’s.

Lesson 2076

(Lesson 2076)(08-09-17)  Galatians 3:1-14
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

In this lesson, Paul again chastizes the Galatians for reverting to the rules of the old Law as a part of their distorted gospel teaching. He, again, makes it vividly clear that eternal salvation comes ONLY through faith in Jesus Christ and NOT by the “good” works of the Law. Paul even went so far as to refer to the Law as “a curse”, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse”.~

Lesson 2075

(Lesson 2075)(08-08-17)  Galatians 2:17-21
“But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
I can add nothing to today’s quote that will make in any more clear than Paul made it.
It is blatantly obvious that Paul fought desperately to keep the influence of the old Law from distorting the gospel of Jesus Christ crucified.
As we see today, with the enormous amount of pomp and ritual stemming from the Jewish and Catholic influence on the modern “church”, his efforts only prevailed among those of us who wholly accept the simplicity of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ crucified, resurrected and ascended.~

Lesson 2074

(Lesson 2074)(08-07-17)  Galatians 2:15-16
“We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

In today’s quote, Paul, at one time a devout Jew himself, made it very clear that the Jews had NO advantage toward eternal salvation by living in accordance with the Law. He again confirmed that salvation comes ONLY through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. He very clearly stated that the works of the Law accomplished nothing toward eternal salvation.
This is a very good lesson for the many today who contend that one must live a perfect life after some form of ritual water baptism, continually asking for forgiveness for every little misdeed, in order to be worthy of eternal life. Herein, Paul clearly establishes that eternal salvation can ONLY be achieved through faith in the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ. Once a soul has surrendered to the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ and taken that righteousness as his/her own, that soul is reborn as a child of God and CANNOT sin. “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he CANNOT SIN, because he is born of God.” (1 John 3:9)

Lesson 2073

(Lesson 2073)(08-06-17)  Galatians 2:1-14
“Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do. But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?”

Today’s quote verifies and explains what I asserted in yesterday’s lesson, that Paul had eventually come to disagreement with Peter, James and many of the leading Jews in the church at Jerusalem, because they had strayed from the instructions of Jesus Christ and refused to recognize the Gentiles, who Paul himself had converted to Christianity. That refusal was especially rejected by Paul when it was applied to Titus, a Greek and a devout worker for the Lord and a close companion of Paul.
As we continue through this second chapter of Galatians, the reasons for the contention between Paul and the Jews will become much clearer. We will also learn much more about how the early church was already being canabalized by the influence of the Jewish factions. ~the suffering of sin and the pains of this earth. What a wonderful day to come for the children of God.~

Lesson 2072

(Lesson 2072)(08-05-17)  Galatians 1:10-24
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia; And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ: But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. And they glorified God in me.”

In the first part of today’s quote, Paul clearly stated that he had neither ever answered to, nor was he obligated to any man except Jesus Christ. He made it clear that the original apostles had had NO influence upon the message he preached because he had learned the doctrine of Christ straight from Jesus Himself.
As was established in the Acts of the apostles, Paul had no direct communication with the original apostles in Judea until he returned to Jerusalem three years after his conversion to Christ and after his journey into Arabia. Also, as has been previously determined, when Paul did finally return to Jerusalem to meet with Peter and James, quite an argument arose between them because Paul refused to impose portions of the old Law onto the converts who were Gentiles. ~

Lesson 2071

(Lesson 2071)(08-04-17)  Galatians 1:1-9
“Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

In the first part of today’s quote Paul greeted the brothers and sisters at Galatia and expressed his reason for writing. Paul wrote this letter because, just like the Corinthians, some of the Galatians were leaving the doctrine of Christ and alllowing the traditions of the Jews to lead them astray.~

Lesson 2070

(Lesson 2070)(08-03-17) 2 Corinthians Chapter 13
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare: Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you. For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection. Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction. Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. Greet one another with an holy kiss. All the saints salute you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”

In today’s quote, Paul warned the heretics at Corinth that when he came to them he would be preaching fire and brimstone toward those who had turned against the doctrine of Jesus Christ. He would also congratulate and exhort the faithful.
It behooves, us as bible students, to remember that it was the Jews, including some of the original apostles, who so harrassed Paul as he went about to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to both Jews and Gentiles. ~

(Lesson 2069)(08-02-17) 2 Corinthians 12:12-21
Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong. Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved. But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you? I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps? Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

In today’s lesson, Paul clarified that he had expected nothing from the Corinthians except their grace and hospitality. He explained that since he had taken nothing from them, he was free to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ without feeling obliged to bend to the wishes of the Jews among them.~

Lesson 2068

(Lesson 2068)(08-01-17) 2 Corinthians 12:1-11
“It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.”

In today’s quote Paul spoke of the visions and revelations he had seen and how they strengthened him to continue in the Lord’s work, even through the pain of his unspoken “infirmity”. He asserted that the more he was challenged, the more devout he became. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the Lord’s preachers and teachers of today would have the same drive and love for Jesus Christ that the apostle Paul had? Praise God for Paul and all those like him who fought through all the trials to make sure that we could have the unvarnished word of God and a means by which we can achieve eternal life through faith on Jesus Christ crucified.~
