Lesson 1368

(Lesson 1368)(06-30-15) 1Thessalonians 4:13-18

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Today's lesson assures the dead in Christ of their eventual resurrection and describes the glorious and triumphant return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul assured us that the dead in Christ "shall rise first" and then those who remain alive at His coming will rise to "meet with the Lord in the air".

The most wonderful part of this lesson is what Paul said to the saved near the end of today's quote; "and so shall we EVER be with the Lord.

For those of us whom have placed our faith in the virgin birth, life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, that great and wonderful day of His return will mark the beginning of a blissful eternity in heaven where there is no more hurt nor sorrow. A place where righteousness and peace will rule forever.

The sad part of this lesson is that for those whom have rejected Jesus Christ, whether they be dead or alive, that day will be the most horrible day of all time, a day when God's eternal judgment and damnation will fall upon the still unrighteous.

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." (Acts 16:31)~
