(Lesson 3135)(08-01-2020) Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Today’s quote is one of the most glaring warnings to those who seek eternal salvation that is to be found in the entire New Testament.
Therein, Jesus, speaking of gaining eternal life, warned us to avoid the most commonly accepted, multi step rituals to which most of today’s so called Christians have given themselves over. Instead, we are to study the pure doctrine of Jesus Christ to find the exact path that will lead to everlasting life. It is so simple that the majority of all the earth’s population will overlook it.
A complete, Holy Spirit guided, study of God’s word establishes that there is indeed ONLY ONE means by which we can be saved. Paul made that very clear in Ephesians 2:8-9 which says, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast”.
Most of today’s “Christian” religions contend that there are a series of hoops such as water baptisms etc. that one must jump through before that one can be saved. Just as Paul said in the quote above, the ONLY means to eternal life is by FAITH and that FAITH must be in the wholly righteous blood of Jesus Christ. Faith in anything else as a part of salvation is a form of idol worship. If one could be eternally saved by washing in water, there would have been no reason for Jesus to be crucified. Neither does Jesus need the help of a water bath to save a soul.~
