Lesson 2833

(Lesson 2833)(09-27-19) Romans 11:5-6
“Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”

In today’s quote, Paul, again, relates that eternal salvation comes through faith, NOT WORKS. Salvation is a gift that is presented by the grace/gift of God and therefore CANNOT be earned by obedience to ANY established laws. Salvation requires ONLY that one believe should believe in the life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. All righteousness is achieved through Jesus. There is NO righteousness except that which is imputed into the those of us who have placed our faith in Him.
In this letter to the Jews, Paul’s main purpose was to persuade his kindred, the Jews, and anyone else who would listen, that if salvation could be gained through the law, there would have been no reason for Jesus to have died. Mankind could not then, nor can they now, be righteousness to ANY degree; therefore, Jesus was sacrificed in order that His perfect righteousness could be imputed into all who will believe.
Those of you who might believe that you must live above sin and those who believe you must jump through certain hoops, such a water baptism, in order to obtain and retain eternal salvation, should study what Paul wrote in this letter to the Romans over and over until the scales are removed from your eyes. To live by as set of rules, or to submit oneself to the ritual of water baptism, are works. Eternal salvation is free through faith, it requires NO work.~
