(Lesson 4925) (07-26-25) 1st Timothy 2:9-15
“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.”
In today’s quote, Paul encouraged Timothy not to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, or of Paul's imprisonment for preaching it. He reminded Timothy that God saved them and called them with a holy calling—not according to their works, but according to His purpose and grace through Christ Jesus. Paul affirmed that Jesus abolished death and brought life and immortality through the same gospel that Paul preached. Though He suffered for this message, Paul was not ashamed because he knew whom he believed. He urged Timothy to hold fast to sound doctrine and remain faithful, even as others had turned away. Today’s is an excellent lesson for today’s churches. ~
