Lesson 4733

(Lesson 4733) (01-19-25) Romans 7:24-24 

   “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” 

 

   In today’s quote, Paul expressed his frustration with the ongoing struggle between his desire to obey God and the sin still present in his life. He cried out, "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" Paul acknowledged that, despite his salvation, he continued to battle sin. However, he also recognized that through Jesus Christ, he was delivered from this struggle. While he remained a sinner, Paul emphasized that he was justified and empowered by the Holy Spirit because of his faith in Jesus. His justification was not based on his ability to overcome sin, but on the work of the Holy Spirit in his life, through belief in Christ. ~
