Lesson 4698

 (Lesson 4698)(12-15-24) Acts 24:24-27

“And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him. But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.”

Today’s quote relates that after some days, Governor Felix and his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, sent for Paul to hear him speak about faith in Christ. As Paul spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and dismissed him, saying, "Go away for now; when I have a convenient time, I will call for you." Felix hoped that Paul would offer him a bribe, and he frequently sent for him, conversing with him about these matters. However, after two years, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. To avoid angering the Jews, Felix left Paul in prison, intending to do the Jews a favor before his departure. ~
