Lesson 4604

 (Lesson 4604)(09-11-24) Acts 3:17-19

“And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

In today’s quote, Peter acknowledged that the people and their leaders acted in ignorance when they rejected and crucified Jesus. He urged them to repent and be converted so that their sins may be blotted out and times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. Peter’s call to "be converted" mirrors his message in Acts 2:38, where he commanded the crowd to "repent and be baptized." In both instances, "converted" and "baptized" carry the same spiritual meaning which is turning to Jesus in faith. Peter stressed that it is through believing in Jesus and accepting Him that our sins are blotted out, not through external rituals like water immersion. Faith in Christ alone is what brings forgiveness and new life. ~
