Lesson 2607

(Lesson 2607)(02-11-19) Luke 22:14-20
“ And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.”

Today’s quote relates how Jesus and His twelve chosen apostles followed the direct command from God, that applied to all Jews, and ate the Passover on that appointed day.
Thereat, Jesus explained that after His soon to come crucifixion, burial, and resurrection, His body, represented by the bread at that passover meal, would thereafter represent all of the meat (the lamb) that was slain for who took part in the original passover. Jesus also declared that His New Testament was to be as written in His blood. His blood was represented by the wine served after the meal.
For those of us whom have believed in Him, that meal represents the body and blood of Jesus. And, for us, it takes the place of the original passover for those who have come to believe in the soul saving power of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ declaration at that meal was, and still is, a covenant between Jesus and all of us who believe in Him.~
