Lesson 1879

(Lesson 1879)(12-14-16) John 15:18-20
"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also."

In today's quote, Jesus told His disciples to ready themselves for the troubles that inevitably laid ahead of them. He wanted them to know that, just as He had been, Christian people would be set apart from the rest of the Jewish community and persecuted for their belief in the virgin born Son of God.
Even more and more today, in many communities, Christian people are being looked upon as alien to the "social norms". Therefore, it is our challenge, and Christian obligation, to maintain our identity as the children of God, the bearers of His truth, and to continue to wave the flag of God's grace.~
