Lesson 1798

(Lesson 1798)(09-19-16) Luke 22:7-13

"Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover."

Today's quote relates how Peter and John were sent to prepare the place where Jesus and His apostles would celebrate the Passover and partake of the commanded Passover meal.

It is very important that all bible students understand why the Passover was, and still is, observed every year among devout Jews. Celebration of the Passover was commanded by God to be observed on the fourteenth day of the first month of the Hebrew calendar year (The month of Nissan, which occurs during our months of March and April).

The full commandment and detailed instructions for how and when to celebrate and observe the Passover can be found in the twelfth chapter of Exodus. I recommend that everyone carefully study Exodus twelve, seeing that most religions have grossly distorted its original intent.~

NOTE: We will have a much more detailed discussion of the Passover as it applies to today's Christians when Jesus addresses His apostles as they eat the Passover meal.
