Lesson 1784

(Lesson 1784)(08-01-16) Luke 18:31-34

"Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken."

In today's quote, Jesus forewarned His apostles that He would soon be brought before Pilate and hanged on the cross. He told them how he would rise again on the third day claiming victory over death and the grave for all who will place their faith in Him.

Even though Jesus knew his apostles didn't understand what He was telling them, He also knew the mystery would be uncovered after He had finished His sacrificial ordeal and had sent the Holy Ghost to empower His disciples and give them understanding of all things.~
