Lesson 1376

(Lesson 1376)(07-08-15) 2Thessalonians 3:6

"Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us."

For today's lesson we will continue with the explanation of what sin is to a born again child of God as compared to what sin is to someone who is still lost and apart from God.

The spirit, or "inner man", of a child of God does not commit sin; because God's seed remains in him: and he CANNOT sin, because he is born of God.

Therefore, the soul of a saved person, through his/her faith in the redeeming sacrifice of Jesus Christ, is eternally sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption and eternally protected from the spiritual death that was inherent in all humanity, from Adam. However, so long as a child of God is still in the flesh he/she is still subject to the sins of the flesh and are also subject to earthly punishment for those sins.

Speaking of himself and his own struggles with sin in the flesh, Paul said, "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me." (Romans 7:18-20)

Once a person has accepted Jesus Christ salvation cannot, and will not, be taken from that child of God because of sins in the flesh, that person does, however, remain subject to the wrath of God, through Christ, while they are still here on earth. For each and every sin that a child of God commits against each other here on earth, that person will be punished here on earth.

Contrarily, those who have rejected Jesus Christ, are still condemned to die the spiritual death and will spend eternity in hell "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

To summarize all this, it must be said that when Paul warned the Thessalonians to; "withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly", He was not saying that we should withdraw from everyone who are guilty of sins in the flesh, but rather, we are to shun those who deny God and His amazing saving grace.~
