Lesson 1338

(Lesson 1338)(05-31-15) Ephesians 4:17-32

"This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

In today's lesson, Paul laid out a list of what Christian people should, and should not, do. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if we all simply followed these simple rules?

There is one other lesson within this text that should be noted. In verse thirty, Paul said; "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby YE ARE SEALED UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION." This verse confirms the security of the believer and verifies that no sin, either past of future, will be charged against a child of God seeing that he/she is "sealed" by the Holy Spirit.

1 John 3:9 further confirms this assertion; "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he CANNOT SIN, because he is born of God."~

Lesson 1337

(Lesson 1337)(05-29-15) Ephesians 4:7-16

"But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."

Today's quote relates that those of us who make up the membership of Christ's Church are each unique in our ability to serve the Lord. As Paul said, some are evangelists and some are prophets or pastors.

This lesson teaches us that, although we might be weak as individuals, together in the Church we can make up a strong and impenetrable force against the servants of Satan who will attempt to distort or destroy the effect of God's message of eternal salvation by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.

It behooves us all to remember that the true Christian Church is the beloved and cherished bride of Christ and that those whom have place their faith in Jesus Christ are God's chosen people. ~

Lesson 1336

(Lesson 1336)(05-28-15) Ephesians 4:1-6

"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

In today's lesson, Paul relates the standards by which each child of God is to conduct him/herself. All these listed characteristics fall under the guidance of the second "great" commandment wherein the children of God are to love their fellow human being as they love themselves and to treat all of them with the same caring with which they would treat their own.

In the last part of this lesson, Paul wrote that to us, the children of God, there is; "One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." There is "one Lord", He is our savior, Jesus Christ. There is one faith, it is the faith that the children of God have placed in the sacrifice Jesus made for the remission of all sin. There is one baptism, that is the immersion of ones spiritual "inner man" into the sanctification of Jesus Christ through faith in Him. There is one God and Father of all, He is the omniscient Master of the universe, the beginning and end of all things.
There is no blessing like the feeling of eternal security that comes through faith in Christ Jesus. There is indeed, one Lord of all.~

Lesson 1335

(Lesson 1335)(05-27-15) Ephesians 3:13-21
"Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Today's quote is Paul's prayer for the Church at Ephesus and in essence, for the Church as a whole. Therein Paul related that, through faith in Jesus Christ, all knowledge and power is given to the Church through the individual hearts of the children of God who are joint heirs to the heavenly kingdom with Jesus Himself.~

Lesson 1334

(Lesson 1334)(05-26-15) Ephesians 3:8-12
"Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him."

In today's lesson Paul establishes that until the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's plan of eternal salvation was a "mystery" that was "hid" in God not yet known to anyone, either Jew or Gentile.
In the last part of today's quote, Paul relates how the "mystery" of His divine operation became, is now, revealed by faith in Jesus Christ, to those who seek it; "According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness AND ACCESS WITH CONFIDENCE BY FAITH IN HIM."
This lesson, to some, might make it seem that there was no salvation available for those who died before Jesus came. In the literal sense of the word that is true because their salvation was not delivered until the ascension of Jesus. However, in fact, those ancient saints could be, as many were, saved by faith just as the willing are today, knowing that God would come through on His promise to provide a savior. The ancient saints were saved by grace, through faith, just as believers are today.~

Lesson 1333

(Lesson 1333)(05-25-15) Ephesians 3:1-7

"For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power."

Today's quote further verifies that the promise God made to the Israelites has, since the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, been extended to those Gentiles who will accept God's grace through that same Jesus Christ.

Paul said; "it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be FELLOWHEIRS, and OF THE SAME BODY, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel". This means that whatever favor Israel had with God before the coming of Christ, the Gentiles now equally enjoy by the grace and promise of God through the sacrifice of that same Christ.

Therefore, modern Christians should hold no special reverence for the Jewish people other than to be thankful to God for their lineage wherethrough our savior, the only begotten Son of the living God, was born that we might have access to eternal life through faith in Him.~

Lesson 1332

(Lesson 1332)(05-24-15) Ephesians 2:11-22

"Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit."

In today's quote Paul again expresses that, since the resurrection of Jesus Christ, there is no difference between the Jew and the saved Gentile. Those of us whom have accepted His extreme sacrifice, both Jew and Gentile, have become, with Jesus, the children of God.

This lesson also disavows the contention that the Jewish race are still to be considered God's "chosen" people. Paul made it very clear that the saved Gentiles are, in the sight of God, on even standing with the Jews. All who believe in Him are now the children of God. One can be no more "chosen" than that. Speaking expressly of the Gentile Christians at Ephesus, Paul said; "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who HATH MADE BOTH ONE, AND HATH BROKEN DOWN THE MIDDLE WALL OF PARTITION BETWEEN US; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for TO MAKE OF HIMSELF ONE NEW MAN, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.~

Lesson 1331

(Lesson 1331)(05-24-15) Ephesians 2:8-10

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

God's plan for the eternal salvation of the human soul cannot be made plainer than it is in today's quote.

It behooves the sincere bible student to make note that there are NO requirements for attaining eternal salvation other than placing one's "FAITH" in the sacrifice God the Father provided by and through our Lord Jesus Christ. There are no hoops through which one must jump, there are no ancient physical rituals to perform, and there is no special, sin free, lifestyle by which the lost are to abide.

Verse nine clearly disavows human physical activity from having any part in the eternal salvation of the soul, saying of that salvation; "it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Verse ten verifies that the righteousness required to reach the kingdom of God is "before ordained" or, "imputed" into those who have faith in Christ; "For we are his workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS UNTO GOOD WORKS."

Upon a declaration of faith, the good works done by our Lord Jesus Christ are imputed into us as Paul so clearly emphasized; "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, HIS FAITH IS COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom GOD IMPUTETH RIGHTEOUSNESS WITHOUT WORKS, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, AND WHOSE SINS ARE COVERED." (Romans 4:5-7)~

Lesson 1330

(Lesson 1330)(05-23-15) Ephesians 2:1-7

"And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus."

In this quote, Paul reassures the Ephesian believers of their salvation by grace through faith, stating that; "God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus."

The outstanding point of today's lesson is that every living accountable soul, just as were the Ephesians before they accepted Jesus, is eternally lost and condemned until that soul realizes its sinful condition apart from God and subsequently accepts the cleansing baptism that comes from wholly immersing ones spiritual "inner" man/woman, by faith, into the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the remission of ALL sin through Him.

I used the term "baptism" to describe the position of those of us whom have been saved by the grace of God and have been securely placed "in Christ Jesus" and have been "quickened together with Christ". The baptism I refer to herein is a baptism of the spirit and has nothing to do with a ritual use of water. Water does not cleanse a lost soul of its sin However, the immersion of oneself by faith into the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ cleanses one of ALL sin and guarantees that one eternal life.~

Lesson 1329

(Lesson 1329)(05-22-15) Ephesians 1:15-23

"Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all."

In today's quote, Paul commended the Ephesians for their faithfulness and told of his prayers to God on their behalf.

In the last part of the text, Paul identified the true Church as the "body" of Christ. He said, in essence, that God appointed Jesus "to be the head over all things to the church, WHICH IS HIS BODY, the fulness of him that filleth ALL IN ALL." This means that very soul who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ becomes a part of the "body" of Christ and is, as was promised in an earlier lesson, sealed therein by the Holy Spirit.

This text makes clear why the term "baptized" as it is applied in Galatians 3:27, does NOT refer to the ritual of water immersion (baptism). The saved are made members of the body of Christ through faith in the supreme sacrifice of that same Jesus, and thereby their spirits are "baptized" (immersed into or buried within) Jesus Christ Himself. Paul said; "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ HAVE PUT ON CHRIST. To "put on Christ" is to enwrap oneself, by faith, within Jesus Christ as one would wrap oneself inside a protective coat or cloak.~

Lesson 1328

(Lesson 1328)(05-21-15) Ephesians 1:1-14

"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

In today's quote Paul first expressed greetings and salutations to the faithful at Ephesus. He then identified himself, the faithful Ephesians, and all other believers in Christ, as having being "predestined" to become the children of God.

Contrary to what many today contend, God indeed had foreknowledge of the path to eternity that will be chosen by all of us. If this were not true, our Father in heaven could not be an omniscient, all knowing God.

Although it is God's will that ALL should be saved, He knows there are many who, of their own free will reject His grace. And yes, He has known all along who they will be.

In the last part of today's quote, Paul again stresses the eternal security of the believer. In verses thirteen and fourteen, Paul said; "after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

The above quoted text assures those of us whom have placed our faith in Jesus Christ that our spirit has been "sealed" by the Holy Spirit until redemption comes.

This lesson should assure any doubter that once a lost soul is saved by the grace of God, that soul can NEVER be lost again seeing that it is sealed by the Holy Spirit of God of promise until the day of judgment.~

Lesson 1327

(Lesson 1327)(05-20-15) Galatians 5:19-26

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another."

For today's lesson I want to reflect back to part of an earlier lesson in Galatians five and hopefully clarify its true intent.

At the very beginning of today's quote, Paul said, "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;", and he gave a list of the sins of the "flesh".

The "works of the flesh" as opposed to the works of the "Spirit", that Paul so plainly told us were exposed as sin under the Law, were exposed by the coming of Jesus Christ.

Through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ the entire Law was fulfilled for those who choose to "live in the spirit". That simply means that to those whom have accepted Jesus as savior, the grievous sins of the flesh under the Law simply no longer exist.

Sadly, some of today's "Christian" isms, find a conflict in what Paul wrote herein and assert that if one, at any time after accepting the grace of God, is found guilty of having committed any of the above "sins", that one cannot attain eternal life without recycling him/herself through the whole process. That assertion is completely and entirely false in that those whom have chosen to place their faith in Jesus Christ, and have put their sin burden entirely upon Him, CANNOT walk anywhere but in the "Spirit" and are incapable of walking in the "flesh".

Paul make that very, very clear in the following; "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin." (Romans 4:4-8)~

Lesson 1326

(Lesson 1326)(05-9-15) Galatians 6:10-18

"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen."

In the beginning of this lesson, Paul again instructed the Galatians, as well as the children of God today, to "do good unto all men". That simple instruction, which our Lord Jesus Christ also gave during His ministry, pretty much sums up the duties of a Christian person. If we "do good" to everyone we meet, our duties as the children of God are accomplished.

It is very important to note that Paul's intentions in writing this letter, were to expose the supposed Christian Jews to the wrongness of their insistence that all new Christian converts be circumcised and adhere to the constraints of the Law of Moses. This is consistent with almost all of Paul's writing.

Even though Paul was the Jesus appointed Apostle to the Gentiles, Peter and many of the other original twelve Apostles caused him to undergo much needless punishment and grief because he preached the gospel of Jesus Christ just as Jesus had personally taught him after his conversion on the road to Damascus.

The most important thing that should take from Paul's teaching herein, is that eternal salvation is not set apart for a certain few who are willing to jump through physical hoops designated by man or to perform man made rituals, nor is salvation reserved for those whom are "chosen". (As some declare, the circumcised law abiding Jews)

But rather, eternal salvation is freely given to ANYONE who will humble him/herself before God, repent his/her sins and believe with all their heart that Jesus is the virgin born Son of the living God, and was crucified, buried, and resurrected as a sacrifice for the sins of all who will simply place their guilt on Him in faith.

"For ye are all the children of God BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS. For as many of you as have been baptized" (Immersed) "into Christ have put on" (Wrapped yourself within) "Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Galatians 3:26-29)~

Lesson 1325

(Lesson 1325)(05-18-15) Galatians 6:5-9

"For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Today's lesson makes it vividly clear that we are solely responsible for our own actions before God. This lesson, along with many others in the New Testament, also makes it very clear that we are incapable of tricking God by pretending to be Godly while practicing the actions of the ungodly. Our Father knows every tiny detail of our hearts and minds in every thing we think or do.

Those who live in the Spirit will reap the blessed gift of life, whereas those who choose to walk in darkness will reap the horrors of eternal night.

We are to work without failing, continually teaching the amazing grace of God through His blessed Triad and the life, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.~

Lesson 1324

(Lesson 1324)(05-17-15) Galatians 6:1-4

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another."

Today's lesson is a very powerful one. It is also a lesson that has been more and more overlooked, or simply ignored, by those who make up much of today's Christian Churches.

Herein, Paul straightforwardly instructed the Galatian Christians to care for the spiritual needs of their brothers and sisters who might be struggling with real intent of the gospel message. They were to help them by whatever means possible. Paul said, "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."That message applies equally to modern Christians.

If we set ourselves apart as special while sitting on our faith and doing nothing, like so many smugly do today, we become what our efforts reflect us to be, nothing.

Our work on earth is simple and demands very little of us, it is summed up by the two "great" commandments that Jesus left with us: "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."

When it comes to our duty to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, if we simply apply the second great commandment, our priority will become the spreading of the news of the amazing grace of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.~

Lesson 1323

(Lesson 1323)(05-16-15) Galatians 5:19-26

In todays quote Paul lists the fruits of those who live in the flesh as opposed to the fruits of those whose spirit is in Jesus Christ. This lesson coincides with what Jesus said in Matthew 7:19-21, "Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." The "will of my Father", is that every lost soul should be saved by the sin remitting sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The spirit of those whom have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, are above the entrapments of sin while those who have not been redeemed by the Spirit of Jesus Christ crucified, continue to walk after the "flesh", or sin.~

Lesson 1322

(Lesson 1322)(05-15-15) Galatians 5:7-18

"Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. I would they were even cut off which trouble you. For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law."

In today's lesson Paul again attempts to persuade the Galatians to avoid those among them who would would distort the gospel and lead them back toward the restrictions of the Law. He advised them that a "little leaven leaveneth the whole lump", which means that once a small concession is given from the purity of the gospel, very quickly the whole will be rendered meaningless.

Later in today's quote, Paul warned that even though Christian people, by the grace of God, are free to do as they will and are no longer bound by any part of the Law, they, above all others, should conduct themselves in a manner befitting their stature as the children of God.

In the last part of the quote, Paul reminded us that if we always obey the two "great" commandments, specifically the second, we would will have fulfilled the Law in its entirety even though we are not required to do so.

If we are truly led by the Spirit of God, we will conduct ourselves in a manner reflective of His Spirit.~

Lesson 1321

(Lesson 1321)(05-14-15) Galatians 5:1-6

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love."

In today's quote, Paul encouraged the Galatians to keep themselves free from the bindings of the Law. He again assured them that salvation comes by faith, not by the ability of mankind to live above sin. If mankind could have ever lived above sin, in perfect obedience to the Law, there would have been no reason for the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is because of our inability to live without sin that God sent His only begotten Son to live in perfection according to the Law in our stead.

Therefore, to those who still hold on to the Law, and those who believe their own good works in obedience to the Law will save them, Paul said, "For I testify again to every man that is *circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." This means that if one is able to live a perfect life he/she has no need of Jesus Christ. However, we know it is impossible for mankind to live above sin, so therefore, faith in the righteousness of Jesus Christ is the ONLY means by which one can be eternally saved.~

*The term circumcised, as it is applied in this text, is in reference to those who claim to live by the Law and therefore tried to wrongfully impose the restrictions of the Law upon Christianity.

Peter was one of several of the original Apostles who tried to impose parts of the Law of Moses upon early Christian converts.

Lesson 1320

(Lesson 1320)(05-13-15) Galatians 4:22-31

"For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free."

In today's lesson, Paul explained that the Gentiles were the intended inheritors of God's promise by drawing an analogy between Hagar having given birth to Ishmael in the natural order and Sarah having given birth to Isaac by faith in the promise that God.

Likewise, the Jews were inheritors by the natural order and the Gentiles were inheritors of salvation by faith in the promise.

This one, like all bible lessons, is very important. The full explanation of what this all means would take far more space than is available in this format. It behooves the sincere bible student to take the time to fully investigate the intent of this lesson so as to fully understand the "operation" of God.~

Lesson 1319

(Lesson 1319)(05-12-15) Galatians 4:8-21

"Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you. My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you. Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?"

In today's quote, Paul berates the Galatians for their seeming desire to return to the bondage of the Law from which the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ had eternally freed them if they would simply put their faith in Him.

Those who today claim to represent the true Christian doctrine should carefully revaluate what they are teaching to be sure it is not been tainted by man made demands that take away from the ultimate, and simple, aim of the gospel of Christ. A requirement that one must be 'baptized' in water in order to be saved is one such man made requirement that is not backed up by New Testament scripture.

The doctrine that Jesus taught concludes that eternal salvation comes by the grace of God the Father through faith in the life and actions of Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. Nothing else is required to achieve eternal salvation. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

There is no way one can deny that participation in the ritual of water baptism is a 'work', it is NOT a "gift" of God. If one places his/her faith in water baptism instead of in the life, death, burial, and ultimate resurrection of Jesus Christ, that one may as well have placed his/her faith in a golden calf.~

Lesson 1318

(Lesson 1318)(05-11-15) Galatians 4:1-7

"Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

Today's quote again makes it clear that although the requirements of the Law of Moses, within itself, offered nothing toward the eternal salvation of an individual, God demanded that it's requirements be fulfilled before any individual could receive that salvation. Knowing that no earthly man, or woman, could EVER fulfill the Law on their own, God sent His Son Jesus be the perfect, sin free specimen and the only human capable of fulfilling the entire Law for every individual who would place their faith in Him.

A thorough study of the New Testament demonstrates that Jesus did indeed fulfill every whit of the Law. (Luke 24:44-47) "And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

(Titus 3:4-7) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."~

Lesson 1317

(Lesson 1317)(05-10-15) Galatians 3:26-29

"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

Today's quote clearly establishes how a lost soul becomes a child of God. "For ye are all the children of God BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS."

Herein, Paul went further to ascertain that it makes no difference whether a lost soul is born a Jew or a Gentile, man or woman, or, as a slave or a free individual; "for YE ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS. There are NO restrictions upon who can an cannot become the children of God. Equally, there are NO greater of lesser positions in the family of God.

Paul explained that when a lost person becomes a child of God, he/she is "in" Christ Jesus, "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

When a lost soul is *baptized into, or through faith in Him, "puts on" or enwraps him/herself into Jesus Christ, that soul is no longer lost, but is from that point forward, "in" Christ Jesus.

*The term "baptized" as it is applied in today's text symbolizes a complete immersion of oneself into the complete persona of Jesus Christ to include His death, burial, and resurrection, through faith in Him.

The term "baptized" as it is applied in today's lesson, does NOT imply that one is immersed into water into Christ.

To suggest that water baptism in some way immerses a lost soul into Jesus Christ defies the entire doctrine of salvation by grace through faith. The following words came straight out of the mouth of Jesus Christ Himself; "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that HEARETH my word, and BELIEVETH on him that sent me, HATH everlasting life, and SHALL NOT come into condemnation; but IS PASSED from death unto life." (John 5:24) Note that Jesus never made mention of water baptism when he expressed how a lost soul is to be saved.~

Lesson 1316

(Lesson 1316)(05-09-15) Galatians 3:15-25

"Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."

The lesson found in today's quote, is that the the Law of Moses, nor any part of it, was ever intended to be a means by which the lost could be eternally saved. As we read the text, we find that Paul directed this lesson straight toward the Jewish Christians of his own time who were still trying to hold on to the Law. He made it very clear that the Law was simply a forerunner to the coming of the promise. The Law of Moses was only to set the table for the coming of Jesus Christ who would bring with Him everlasting life through faith, and thereby fulfill the promise God made to Abraham. That promise still holds today for all who will put their faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Seeing that there are so many in our time who still insist that some rules of the Law, such as water baptism, should wrongfully be incorporated into the gospel of Christ, this lesson applies equally well today.

Paul made it very clear, herein, that the Law is never to be placed as a stumbling block in the path of a lost soul who earnestly seeks salvation, since that salvation comes only by faith in Jesus Christ crucified, buried, and risen to live again. "the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe." That means that all that ever was, and still is, required to achieve eternal live is to believe on our Lord, Jesus Christ.~

Lesson 1315

(Lesson 1315)(05-08-15) Galatians 3:1-14

"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."

There is not much I can say that will make today's quote any clearer than Paul did.

While very clearly speaking to those Galatian, "Christian", Jews, (Also to include Peter and many of the other Apostles), who were still wrongfully trying to forcefully incorporate parts of the Law of Moses into Christian doctrine, Paul said, in essence, that eternal salvation comes ONLY by faith in Jesus Christ and NOT because of any physical act performed by mankind.

Physical rituals such as water baptism were demanded under the Law, but were NEVER meant to be a part of Christian doctrine. Although some, again including Peter, insisted that new converts be immersed in water or, (baptized) in water.

Though the New Testament text clearly implies that one must be "baptized" into Christ in order to be saved, that baptism has NOTHING to do with water. Baptism into Christ is the immersion of oneself into Jesus Christ through faith, period.

Paul, very succinctly, tells us that salvation comes by FAITH ALONE and that NO physical work of mankind will ever earn eternal salvation. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)~

Lesson 1314

(Lesson 1314)(05-07-15) Galatians 2:11-21

"But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."

In today's quote, Paul related his confrontation with Peter at Antioch wherein, Paul accused Peter of having made a hypocrite of himself before the Gentiles. As Paul stated, Peter, after God had told him in a vision that the Gentiles were no longer to be considered unclean and after he had visited the house of Cornelius wherein he witnessed the coming of the Holy Ghost upon Cornelius and his household, out of fear of the Jewish hierarchy, had turned away from the Gentiles and was again trying to impose the Law of Moses upon all new Christian converts. "But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because HE WAS TO BE BLAMED. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation."

Peters actions aggravated Paul to the extent that he challenged Peter openly before both Jews and Gentiles.

In today's bible study, it is obvious that in many of Peter's writings it is reflected that he definitely had trouble cutting himself loose for the bondage of the Law. That struggle was also written in his history whereas, at one point, even Jesus called him Peter Satan, "But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, BUT THOSE THAT BE OF MEN." (Matthew 16:23)

Paul fought gallantly throughout his entire ministry to keep the gospel of Jesus Christ above the input of Jewish and Pagan pomp and ritual. Paul insisted the the gospel be "the simplicity that is in Christ Jesus".

Even today the vast majority of "Christian Churches" preach all manner of erroneous doctrinal additions that are not now, nor were they ever, a part of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Those bells and whistles consist of things ranging from water baptism as a prerequisite to eternal salvation to, in some obscure instances, the handling of snakes.

It is time that we, as the true representatives of the new law of faith, stand up and make our voices heard so that those who are sincerely seeking the Lord can find Him and the "simplicity that is in Christ Jesus".

Lesson 1313

(Lesson 1313)(05-06-15) Galatians 2:1-10

"Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do."

In today's quote, Paul recounted, after fourteen years, his journey back to Jerusalem and his meeting with the original twelve Apostles in the temple.

Some devout Jews who hated Paul and wanted him imprisoned for not adhering strictly to the Law of Moses, had infiltrated the Church at Jerusalem. Those Jews knew Titus was a Greek Gentile and had never been circumcised, therefore, they laid a trap to charge Paul with defiling the temple by bringing in an uncircumcised Gentile.

Although James, Cephas, and John had confirmed Paul and Titus before hand, the situation with the hard line Jews set up, and accomplished, a showdown between Paul and Peter concerning what was, and was not, to be taught as the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

In today's text, Paul also made it clear, as was stated in yesterday's lesson, that Peter and the others had been appointed by Jesus to preach the gospel uniquely to the Jews, whereas Paul, was uniquely chosen to preach that gospel to the Gentiles.

Tomorrows lesson concerns the showdown between Paul and Peter and contains some serious charges levied by Paul against Peter.~

Lesson 1312

(Lesson 1312)(05-05-15) Galatians 1:11-24

But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia; And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ: But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. And they glorified God in me."

In today's lesson, Paul verified that he received the gospel straight from the mouth of Jesus Christ. In verifying those credentials, Paul said he had no contact with, nor doctrinal input from, the other Apostles except for a brief meeting with Peter in Jerusalem.

One studying the New Testament one should always remember that Paul was specifically chosen by Jesus Christ to preach the gospel to the Gentiles. No other Apostle, other than Peter, was so designated. Peter's example being the his interaction with Cornelius. Therefore, Paul's meeting with Peter may not have been so much about his being taught by Peter as it was about him teaching Peter.

By staying away from Jerusalem and not being burdened by the outside influence of the Jewish hierarchy that was being placed on the original twelve Apostles, Paul preached the gospel cleanly and without all the traditional pomp and ritual that the Jews attempted to force into it.

There are certain Old Testament laws that apply only to the Jewish race. Those laws did not then, nor do they now, apply to the doctrine that was preached by Paul.

The Original twelve Apostles were chosen by Jesus to teach the gospel to the Jews only; "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:: (Matthew 10:5)

As a matter of fact, they were explicitly told to stay away from the Gentiles; "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:" (Matthew 10:5)

The original twelve Apostles were bound to teach the gospel within the traditions and restrictions of ancient Hebrew law. From that tradition, water baptism and many other erroneous rituals have been wrongfully incorporated into much of, what is today considered, "Christian" teaching.~

Lesson 1311

(Lesson 1311)(05-04-15) Galatians 1:1-10

"Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."

In this quote, Paul sends greetings and salutations to all the Churches in Galatia. He also expressed his knowledge that false teachers had arisen among the members of the Church.

Paul then went on to assure them that the gospel he had preached was the one true gospel of Jesus Christ and that they should set themselves apart from any deviation from that gospel by not allowing anyone to add or take away from it.

Sadly today there have been many bells and whistles along with hoops and obstacles added to, and placed in the way of, the simple doctrine of Jesus Christ so as to render it almost unreachable as per the rules and regulations of many "Christian Churches".

We should always remember that salvation comes from the shed blood of Jesus Christ only, and that salvation comes through absolute faith in Jesus Christ.

The only restrictions, or obstacles, that stand between the lost and eternal life, with God in heaven, is the individuals failure to believe that Jesus is the Son of God who was sent to redeem the world from sin.

Salvation does not require water baptism, it does not require moral perfection, nor does it require any other physical work. Eternal salvation is given freely, by the grace of God, to anyone who will call on the name of the Lord and believe that God has raised Him from the dead: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:36)

This again is the "simplicity that is in Christ".~

Lesson 1310

(Lesson 1310)(05-03-15) 2 Corinthians Chapter 13

"This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare: Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you. For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection. Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction. Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. Greet one another with an holy kiss. All the saints salute you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen."

In today's lesson Paul rebuked the Christians at Corinth for the failure of some among them to be convinced of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He challenged them to search themselves to determine if the truly believed.

In the end Paul wished them well and prayed for their faithfulness in the work to which he had appointed them.

I believe that the membership of our Churches today should examine themselves also as Paul instructed the Corinthians to determine if their faith is truly in the Lord Jesus Christ, or is their faith in their own actions.~

Lesson 1309

(Lesson 1309)(05-02-15) 2 Corinthians 12:12-21

"Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong. Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you? I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps? Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying. For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed."

In today's quote, Paul prepared the Church at Corinth for his eventual coming. He established himself as a worthy examiner of their deeds by making it clear that he had taken nothing from them and that he had devoted much of himself and others to their service. He also expressed his foreknowledge of some of their wrong doings, "For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.".

All of the things Paul listed in the latter part of this quote can be found, in some form in every one of today's Churches. Wouldn't it be a wonderfully blessed thing if we today had someone like Paul who could come and straighten out all the problems that exist in our Churches? Could that be any one of us?~

Lesson 1308

(Lesson 1308)(05-01-15) 2 Corinthians 12:1-11

"It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing."

In today's quote, Paul recalled his meeting with Jesus whereby he received his ultimate appointment to the Apostleship. He told about the power that was given him through that experience as well as the awesome responsibility that came along with it. He also said that with the blessings and power of the Holy Ghost Came the curse of those who would continually persecute and try to kill him.

Jesus used his continual persecution as a motivational tool for Paul. The more his enemies tried to stop him, the harder he worked and the more he gave the glory to Jesus Christ.

It would be a grand and blessed thing if today's Christians would approach their appointed task with the same zeal as Paul demonstrated during his lifetime as an Apostle.~
