Lesson 4934

 (Lesson 4934) (08-04-25) 2nd Timothy 2:1-9 

   “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.” 

 

   In today’s quote, Paul encouraged Timothy to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus and to commit the truth he had learned to faithful men who would be able to teach others. He reminded Timothy to endure hardship like a good soldier of Jesus Christ, not getting himself entangled with worldly affairs. Paul used the examples of a soldier, athlete, and farmer to illustrate discipline, obedience, and hard work in ministry. He urged Timothy to consider what he said, trusting the Lord to give understanding. Paul emphasized that his suffering, even imprisonment, was for the sake of the elect so that they might obtain salvation in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. Blessed be the amazing, saving grace of God! ~ 

 

Lesson 4933

 (Lesson 4933) (08-03-25) 2nd Timothy 1:6-18  

   “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us. This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.” 

 

   In today’s quote, Paul reminded Timothy to stir up the gift of God within him. He encouraged Timothy not to fear, since God had given him the Holy Spirit, love, and a sound mind. Paul urged Timothy not to be ashamed of his testimony, but to share in suffering for the gospel. Paul spoke of God saving them and calling them with a holy calling, not according to their works but by His purpose and grace through Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to those who will accept that grace. Paul was appointed a preacher, apostle, and teacher of the Gentiles and was not ashamed of suffering he had endured, because he knew in whom he believed and trusted God to keep what was committed until that day of his redemption. Paul urged Timothy to hold to sound words and to keep the faith and love in Christ. He reminded Timothy of those who had turned away and praised Onesiphorus for his faithfulness and support, even during Paul's imprisonment in Rome. ~ 

Lesson 4932

 (Lesson 4932) (08-02-25) 2nd Timothy 1:2-5 

   Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.” 

 

   In today’s quote, Paul, proclaiming himself an apostle of Jesus Christ by God's will, expressed his love for Timothy, recalling his sincere faith and loyalty to the gospel. Paul expressed gratitude to God and mentioned how he continually prayed for Timothy. ~ 

Lesson 4931

 (Lesson 4931) (08-01-25) 1st Timothy chapter 6 

   “Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.” 

 

   In today’ lesson, Paul laid out instructions for Timothy and the members of the church. Workers are urged to respect their bosses, especially those who were fellow children of God. Paul warned against those who teach false doctrines, those who are motivated by pride and a love of superiority. He emphasized that godliness with contentment was great gain and warned of the dangers of loving money. The rich were advised not to be proud or trust in uncertain riches but to be rich in good works. Paul urged Timothy to fight the good fight of faith, keep his commandments blameless, and avoid profane and vain discussions, staying faithful to the gospel that had been entrusted to him. ~
