“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
Today's quote describes the ritual water baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist as was demanded of all Jewish men entering the priesthood. When He arose from the water the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in the form of a dove, and a voice from heaven declared that He is God's beloved Son with whom God is well pleased. Having fulfilled the will of God and the law of Moses, Jesus publicly marked the official start of His earthly ministry. ~
