Lesson 5113

 (Lesson 5113)(01-31-26) Matthew 10:11-15

“And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.”

In today’s quote, Jesus instructed his followers to find and stay with those who are "worthy" (receptive), while explicitly commanded to "shake off the dust" of their feet and move on from any house or city that does not welcome them or hear their words, signifying that they should not waste their ministry on those who were/are unwilling to listen. ~

Lesson 5112

 (Lesson 5112)(01-30-26) Matthew 10:8-10

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.”

In today’s quote, Jesus instructed his disciples to teach with the same radical generosity from which they had received the knowledgefreely healing and giving without seeking anything in returnwhile trusting God to provide for their basic need, rather than packing necessities for the journey. This lesson applies directly to those of us who believe in Jesus but also feel that we don’t have the means to spread God’s word as we know we shouldAs related in today’s lesson, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to accomplish whatever we want, without fail, if we simply step out in faith. ~

Lesson 5111

 (Lesson 5111)(01-29-26) Matthew 10:7

“And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Today’s quote is a short and simple one, it simply describes the message that the apostles were to teach as they traveled throughout the region. We should note that the message the apostles were to teach IS NOT a Christian message, they were simply to teach that the “kingdom of heaven is at hand”. Meaning that the new law of faith was soon to come. ~

Lesson 5110

 (Lesson 5110)(01-28-26) Matthew 10:1-6

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

In today’s quote, Jesus named then empowered his twelve apostles with authority over spirits and disease, commissioning them to preach the coming kingdom exclusively to "the lost sheep of the house of Israel" while expressly forbidding them from entering the ways of the Gentiles or the cities of the Samaritans. This point is important to remember because Christianity could not then be taught because Jesus had not completed His divine mission and sacrifice for the sins of all who would come to believe in Him. ~

Lesson 5109

 (Lesson 5109)(01-27-26) Matthew 9:34-38

“But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils. And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

Today’s quote relates that, while the Pharisees dismissed Jesus' healing power abeing from Satan, He continued his ministry of teaching and healing out of compassion for the leaderless multitudes, urging his disciples to pray for more laborers to help gather a plentiful spiritual harvest of lost souls. ~

Lesson 5108

 (Lesson 5108)(01-26-26) Matthew 9:27-33

“And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country. As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.”

In today’s quote, Jesus performed more miracles as He restored sight to two blind men and removed a demon from a mute man as most of those present marveled at the awesome power of God through Him. ~
