Lesson 5083

 (Lesson 5083) (12-31-25) Matthew 6:1-4

“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”

In today’s quote, Jesus taught that any act of charity should be done quietly and in secret, never give gifts for public praise, remembering that God rewards genuine devotion rather than outward show. ~

Lesson 5082

 (Lesson 5082) (12-30-25) Matthew 5:43-48

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

In today’s lesson, Jesus taught that God’s people are to love even their enemies, pray for those who mistreat us, and reflect God’s perfect, unconditional love rather than limiting our love to only those who treat us well. A lesson that would certainly help today. ~

Lesson 5081

 (Lesson 5081) (12-29-25) Matthew 5:38-42

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.”

In today’s quote, Jesus taught that instead of seeking revenge against those who offend us, believers should respond with patience, generosity, and humility, willing to go beyond what is commonly demanded to show God’s grace even when it is painful to do so. ~

Lesson 5080

 (Lesson 5080) (12-28-25) Matthew 5:33-37

“Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yeayea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”

In today’s quote, Jesus taught that people should not make oaths to prove their honesty and instead should let their simple “yes” or “no” be truthful, because anything beyond that comes from some form of evil. ~

Lesson 5079

 (Lesson 5079) (12-27-25) Matthew 5:31-32

“It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.”

Today’s is a short lesson that needs no further commentary. ~

Lesson 5078

 (Lesson 5078) (12-26-25) Matthew 5:29-30

“And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”

Today’s lesson illustrates that all sins begin in the heart, and that a true believer should take measures so drastic such as blinding an eye or cutting of a hand to avoid sin rather than allow it to destroy their lives. ~

Lesson 5077

 (Lesson 5077) (12-25-25) Matthew 5:27-28

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Today’s lesson is a simple one and needs no further commentary. ~
