Lesson 4343

 (Lesson 4343)(12-23-23) Luke 9:1 

“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.” 

 

Today’s quote verifies when Jesus gave His apostles the power of to heal and to cast out devils. 

That occasion is very important because it establishes the fact that there is a definite distinction to be drawn between the power that Jesus granted to His apostles, at that point, and the power of the Holy Spirit, with which Jesus would baptize His apostles at Pentecost. Because the Holy Spirit is Jesus in the Spirit, the power of the Holy Spirit could only be sent AFTER Jesus had completed His divine mission as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world and had ascended back to the Father. 

Although the Holy Spirit of God (which is technically the same as the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ) did work in many circumstances and prophets of the Old Testament. Baptism of with the Holy Spirit came ONLY after the death and ascension of Jesus.~
